A driver arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a five vehicle pile-up, which caused hours of traffic jams, has been released on bail.
Three lorries and two cars collided on the M40, between junction 11 at Banbury and junction 12 at Gaydon, at about 10.20am on Friday.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
A 68-year-old lorry driver, from Birmingham, involved in the collision remains in hospital in Coventry with serious injuries.
A second injured man was treated at The Horton Hospital, Banbury, and has now been released.
Police arrested a 22-year-old man, from Fleet, in Hampshire, on suspicion of dangerous driving.
He has been released on bail until May10.
