A MAN accused of fleeing a police raid on his home told a court he was at his sister's house.

Triston Lawrence, 23, denied at Oxford Crown Court four charges of possession with intent to supply after drugs were found during the raid in Berry Close, Blackbird Leys, Oxford, last June.

Lawrence denied he was a man police said fled the house, throwing away £15,000 worth of drugs.

He said he had been at his sister's house in Greater Leys when his home was raided.

He said: "I asked her to cook me some breakfast and give me a massage. I was there nearly all day."

Lawrence denied scales found in his room were his, saying he always left the door unlocked, and told the court he could not have run from police that day because of an on-going back problem.

He said when police later surrounded a car he was in he did not realise who they were before his cousin Anthony Smith, 28, drove off.

Tony McGeorge, defending, said police were mistaken in identifying Lawrence, of Nettlebed Mead, Greater Leys.

Smith of Woodin's Way, Oxford, is also standing trial alleged to have helped Lawrence escape police custody on July 30 last year. He denies dangerous driving.
