Ken Jones says that the Chancellor gave a measly £50 in his Budget to the over-60s towards their heating allowance for this year, making it £250, and £100 for the over-80s, making theirs £400 (Oxford Mail, March 18).
When the Tory Government was in power, to get anything at all, the temperature had to be 32 degrees or below for six consecutive days.
Then you got £10, and that didn't happen very often.
The Tories also took away the index-linked pension, which is worth more than £30 a week today.
It is being restored in 2012.
Some people have short memories.
