Police have arrested a motorist after a multi-car pile-up on the M40.
The M40 southbound between junction 12, near Gaydon, and junction 11, at Banbury, remains closed after five cars collided at 10.20am.
Two lanes northbound are also closed and there is heavy congestion.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area for the rest of the afternoon.
Three lorries and two cars were involved in the crash and one person with serious injuries has taken by air ambulance to Wargrave Hospital in Coventry.
A man has been arrested at the scene in suspicion of dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.
