SOME children are to get safe cycling lessons thanks to a £15,000 Government grant to the county council.
It will be used to provide cycle training for 375 children in the county.
Transport minister Rosie Winterton announced the funding at the weekend. It is part of £140m package which will give up to half a million ten- and 11-year-olds cycle training by 2012.
She said: "Considering obesity now affects around one quarter of adults and one in 10 children, encouraging people to take exercise has never been more important."
