A bus conductress gave her heart as well as a ticket when she served passenger Harry Smith - and now the couple are celebrating their golden wedding.
Kathleen Smith, 76, from Berinsfield, said: "We met while he was travelling on the bus and that was that and we've been together ever since."
Mr Smith, 72, was in the Army when they met. Mrs Smith was born in Surbiton, but was evacuated to County Durham, where they met.
He moved to Oxfordshire in 1961 and Mrs Smith moved down two years later.
Mr Smith worked for the Oxford Bus Company before moving to Oxford's Cowley car plant.
He retired from Unigate, County Dairies, where he worked in the factory.
The couple first lived in Nuneham Courtenay, and moved to Evenlode Drive, Berinsfield, in 1958.
Mr and Mrs Smith, who have three grown-up children, were planning a quiet meal with their daughter on their anniversary, as they did not want a party.
