Mystery surrounds the death of a man whose body was found at a house in a quiet neighbourhood in Witney this morning.
Detectives have launched an investigation and forensic officers and several police vehicles remain at Wadard's Meadow.
Officers were called to the scene at 10.20am and are still trying to establish the identity of the man and ascertain the cause of death.
The man appears to be in his late 20s or early 30s and is understood not to have been carrying identification.
Police are seeking information from anyone who was in the area between midnight and 11am today who may be able to assist the investigation.
Wadard's Meadow resident Lorraine Weller expressed sympathy for the man's family.
She told the Oxford Mail: "It's shocking. Everyone wants to know what's happening. We have never seen anything like this before."
A post-mortem will be held later today.
Witnesses should call Thames Valley Police on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, if you do not wish to speak to police or leave your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
