Chipping Norton Under 12s' dreams of playing at Twickenham were shattered as they finished third in the south east regional finals of the Emerging Schools rugby competition at Windsor RFC.
The Oxon champions (pictured) opened by demolishing Langley School (Berkshire) by four tries to nil, with Matty Roe (2), Sam Humphreys and Tom Dee scoring.
Chippy then went down to the only try of the game against Sir William Ramsay (Bucks).
In their final pool game against Westgate (Hampshire), Chippy's Jack Haggetts suffered a nasty injury, which held up play.
Although he recovered, the whistle went with the game scoreless and Chippy missed out on a final place on points difference.
Instead, they faced Cheney (Oxford) in the third place play-off, and won with Humphreys (2) and Roe scoring tries.
