I wish Roger Jenking well on his senior citizen's bus pass journey (Oxford Mail, March 6).
Unfortunately, because Cherwell District Council has decided that my bus pass concession cannot apply before 9.30am, the earliest time I could start such an epic journey from Deddington is more than an hour later, at 10.06am (the Stagecoach 59 service to Oxford or Banbury).
As Brian Fisher mentioned (Oxford Mail, March 1), Vale of White Horse pensioners are similarly restricted.
What a pity the Oxfordshire councils could not talk to each other and agree a common scheme.
Different schemes operating in the same county area give rise to inequalities for passengers and confusion for service providers.
The parsimony of the Cherwell and Vale councils will have one certain result - more vehicles unnecessarily using already severely congested roads in the busy morning hours.
