BURGLARS broke into a house after the owner failed to lock their front door securely.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary in Edinburgh Way, Banbury, sometime overnight between Monday and Tuesday.
They got in through the front door and stole a 32-inch black Sony Bravia television.
The victim was asleep upstairs whilst the burglary took place.
Police said a door handle had been pushed up from the inside to lock the door but it had not been double locked.
Det Con Lee Newman, of Banbury police station said: "It is possible that the offender put an object through the letter box and pulled the door handle from the inside. I would urge people to remember to lock their doors properly to lessen the risk of a burglary."
