A NOMADIC congregation is just weeks away from returning to its church home after being on the move for six months.
Members of Kidlington Baptist Church have been left without a base since September after builders began a £690,000 revamp of their High Street meeting place.
Since then, services and group meetings have been held at Gosford Hill School, North Kidlington Primary School and the Scout Hut in Blenheim Road.
However, next month, church minister, the Rev Graham Sinden is hoping to return to the refurbished church.
He said he was grateful for the community's support since September and during the church's eight-year fundraising campaign.
He said: "Now we really want to get back."
The new church will have a bigger entrance area, new reception and kitchen, disabled toilet, a new meeting room and improved heating and lighting.
The money was raised through individual pledges and donations from the congregation, a loan form the Baptist Church of Great Britain and charity grants.
Mr Sinden added: "It's a major redevelopment.
"The building will offer new possibilities.
"It's been a long time coming and we have had some disappointments along the way."
A few years ago a similar project was abandoned at the 11th hour and new architects appointed because of complications.
Congregation member Melvina Fawcett, of Springfield Road, said: "We are very excited and looking to host more community activities."
