AN overturned lorry on the A40 near Wheatley which spilled 24 tonnes of fruit caused large tailbacks for motorists.
Ambulance crews were called to the scene between Wheatley and Oxford at 10.35am today.
No one was injured in the incident.
Traffic monitors said the A40 London Road westbound was closed as recovery work was carried out near the Thornhill park-and-ride.
Police report very long delays on all surrounding routes.
Traffic on the M40 heading towards Oxford was being advised to use the exit at junction 9, near Wendlebury, and use the A34 southbound.
