You can have an Oxford address without it costing the earth - but you will have to go to Yorkshire for it.
Oxford Street in South Elmsall is the cheapest place in the country to buy a house, according to property website Mouseprice.com An average property in the former coal mining town near Pontefract, in West Yorkshire, costs an average of just £25,600 - making it the cheapest place in England and Wales to buy a home.
However, a recent survey by Nationwide found the average-priced house in Oxford city costs an eye-watering £339,404.
