More than 100 soldiers braced themselves for a gruelling 24-hour sportathon.
The Royal Logistic Corps soldiers, based at Dalton Barracks, spent a full day and night continuously doing sponsored sporting activities to raise funds for the neonatal unit at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital.
Sergeant Grant Clark, left, and Corporal Russ Clark, right, walked non-stop for 24 hours wearing 15kg rucksacks, with colleagues cheering them on.
Teams competed in marches with full kit and equipment while others played tag rugby, volleyball, basketball and football.
And not having a moment's rest, the soldiers included a workout session.
The highlight of the day was a competitive truck pull, in which two teams raced along the two-kilometre runway at the barracks pulling a 14-tonne army vehicle.
The troops, from 21 General Support Squadron, hope to have raised more than £2,500 for the neonatal unit.
Captain Ben Collins said: "We have received such support from the local community during our operational deployments and the welcome home was such that we felt we had to return the compliment."
