I am sorry to see city councillor Ed Turner take my criticism of the Rose Hill Labour News personally, as it was meant to stir the consciences of his fellow Labour councillors that complacency could lose them a safe seat (Oxford Mail, March 3).
I have lost count of the number of councillors, in the last couple of decades, first elected at Rose Hill who went on to become Lord Mayors of Oxford.
They, too, made their election promises but sadly, left no mark and to top it, we lost a few amenities.
This record is not much to boast about.
Oxford Mail readers may not be interested in my letters, but at least it caught the eye of Mr Turner and hopefully his fellow councillors.
This is good enough for me as we may see results, not promises.
I am aware that Oxfordshire County Council is responsible for the schools in the area, but I cannot remember any protest being made by city councillors when three schools were to be closed and their sites surrendered to housing.
Sure Start, Fresh Start, what next? A new beginning! Is this Labour Party policy or Tony Blair's legacy?
As a resident, I am concerned at the building development taking place in the area and like Mr Turner, I am relieved to see that work has started.
There are many questions yet unresolved and the city council's housing services department has had plenty of time to sort them out.
There is no room for excuses. We must get it right now.
Surely our patience should be rewarded with quality, not quantity.
