SKODA'S UK dealer network is taking orders for the fabulously frugal 1.4 TDI Fabia GreenLine.
Boasting almost 69mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 figures of 109g/km, GreenLine models not only do their bit for the environment but should also make forecourt trips mercifully infrequent.
Buyers can opt for either hatchback or estate versions of this latest addition to the Fabia family, which cost £11,490 and £12,140 respectively. Skoda says in estate guise the GreenLine boasts class-leading economy and environmental credentials. In fact, there is no greener or leaner estate on sale in the UK for the money.
This feat has been achieved thanks to additional aerodynamic panels being fitted to the underside of the chassis, the replacement of the spare tyre with a puncture repair kit and the raising of the front bumper by 35mm.
All of this means that on a single tank of diesel a GreenLine driver can expect to cover up to 689 miles. Compare this to the standard 1.4 TDI Fabia 2 - on which the GreenLine is based - and buyers should be able to squeeze an extra 75 miles between fill-ups.
Available in Amazon Green, Magic Black, Brilliant Silver or Candy White (and with unique GreenLine decals) the newest Fabia is available to order now.
The first customer deliveries are expected from April 21.
