Harwell primary school has been classed as "a good school with outstanding features" by Ofsted inspectors.

They said the 147-pupil school's curriculum was outstanding, and the pupils' behaviour and personal development were excellent.

The foundation stage of the school was also described as outstanding.

Head inspector Charalambos Loizou told pupils in a letter: "You all work very hard, and I agree with the many parents who say that your school is an exciting place to learn and play, and is an important part of Harwell village. Your special projects are fantastic and I was very impressed with the many different things that have happened since your school was last inspected."

Mr Loizou said he had asked teachers to help the children improve their writing and for staff to organise information better so that regular checks can be made to make sure the children all reach their targets.

The school has achieved national recognition as a healthy school and an eco-school as well as gaining the active Mark and FA Charter status.
