A man suffered cuts and fractures to his face during a serious assault in Carterton.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack at about 11pm outside Giles Sports in Alvescot Road on Saturday.
The man suffered three fractures to his cheek bone and eye socket, and deep cuts inside his mouth.
Police said the injuries may result in permanent facial disfigurement and damage to his sight.
Pc Neil Wathes, from Witney police station, said: "The suspect has been described by witnesses at the scene as being threatening towards other members of the public before the assault took place.
"We are interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen the incident or anyone else who may have been threatened by the same man."
The attacker is described as white, aged about 18, slim, with short dark hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top and baggy jeans.

An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm was released on bail until April 6.
