Thunder and lightning storms have struck across the county as months of hot, dry weather appear to be coming to a close.

Photographers across Oxfordshire were quick to take advantage of the storms and snapped stunning photographs of the lightning cutting across the county’s skies.

For many the storms are a relief after a long period of time with little rain, however for others – and their pets - thunderstorms can be a frightening experience.

There are more storms predicted this week.

On Thursday (September 8), residents can expect another thunderstorm with winds ranging between 15 and 25 km/h.

On this day, there will also be a 90 per cent chance of rain falling.
