Sir - Post Offices are being treated only as cost centres.
It is ironic that the Government, which is so concerned about our sense of community, is failing to safeguard a long-standing centre of many communities, the Post Office.
My friend tells me that there is no longer a Post Office in the whole of Summertown. Since the Post Office in Garsington closed a few years ago I have often used the one in the Cowley Centre, which itself was moved from its own premises into the Co-op store a couple of years ago. When I asked there last week if they still had any of the nice stamps with pictures of dogs, the woman serving me told me that they had never been sent any! That about sums it up. We like our Post Offices, but the evidence is that whoever is in charge of them does not like us very much.
