Sir - Reading Professor Audrey Mullender's letter (February 8) certainly did not allay my original fears about the future of Ruskin College.
Indeed the involvement of Messrs Blair and Brown fill me with dismay! Neither of them have shown any interest in furthering older people's continuing education. In fact, funding for courses for older people is being cut and is now largely out of reach for many of them.
Such short-sightedness is nothing short of criminal, as not only do older people benefit from using their brains, but are also able to meet and socialise, eliminating the loneliness many older people feel.
I endorse everything John Hurlston, President of the Ruskin Fellowship, stated in his letter (Letters, February 22). I hope common sense will prevail and save Ruskin from more erosion of its core values.
Ann Cole (Mrs), Oxford
