Leach's the Printers has a long and distinguished record of serving its customers.

The independent, family business has flourished in Abingdon for more than 100 years.

It was founded in 1901 by Thomas Leach, who produced stationery, Christmas cards and Easter cards for the clergy at his home in Victoria Road.

Later, he was joined by sons Victor and Frederick and together they expanded into other printing and publishing fields.

A small printing works was established in a building behind Bath Street, with Frederick in charge.

Meanwhile, Thomas and Victor ran stationery shops and newsagents in Bath Street, Market Place and Oxford Road.

Progress was so rapid that the firm soon needed more room.

The move to Ock Street took place in 1937, the year in which Thomas celebrated his 80th birthday.

The firm's new premises were a former factory, which produced mineral water and sweets.

Many townspeople, including the present chairman, David Leach, remember buying sweets from the factory shop as children.

Now with Mr Leach, grandson of the founder, at the helm, the firm is embarking on a new chapter in its illustrious history.

Having again outgrown its site, it is moving soon to the Nuffield Centrum in the town to provide its customers with even better service in the future.
