BANBURY'S two Subaru World Rally Team Impreza WRC2007s got the Rally Mexico off to a flying start.
Petter Solberg/Phil Mills and Chris Atkinson/Stéphane Prévot completed their shakedown runs fastest and second fastest overall on Mexico's rocky and dusty gravel stages.
At the first service today after three stages Solberg said his car had had some brake problems at the end of stage one which they couldn't fix at the side of the road, so they had three-wheel braking for the next two stages.
He said: "The team will fix it in service so I hope we can push again this afternoon. At least I will have a good road position for tomorrow."
Atkinson said: "We're third at the moment which is OK, but we have a good road position so we need to make the most of that.
"The stages this morning were tricky and even in sixth on the road there were lots of rocks and loose gravel. The stages will be cleaner this afternoon so we will push hard."
