It seems to me that in this modern world, we are all too quick to share bad news and complaints, but what about the good stuff?
OK, so First Great Western has its problems, reliability is not great, but would it be with any other company?
After all, the problems are with the system and rolling stock, not the company running it.
Want to know what the company does get right?
Go to Didcot Parkway. You will be greeted by a booking office full of helpful, happy staff.
It seems to me (a regular passenger) that the team never stop smiling.
There is always a cheerful greeting, they will make sure you get the right advice, help you plan your journey, get you the best deal they can and still find time to share a joke.
Upstairs, you will meet the platform staff and if it's busy, you'll probably see Kim Higgs, the station manager, again smiles all round and as much help as they can offer, while getting a very large number of people safely on and off trains with amazing speed.
I love travelling by train and these guys are the reason.
Yes, sometimes it goes wrong, sometimes I'm late, but always the team at Didcot make me feel good.
So instead of moaning, can I please say a huge thank-you to all the staff at Didcot Parkway for everything they do every single day of the week?
