A 14-year-old girl was revived by a police community support officer after she passed out following a binge drinking session.
At about 7.15pm last Friday police were called to reports that two 14-year-olds were unconscious because they had drunk large amounts of vodka.
They had passed out in the skate park in Grove and shortly after Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Sue Harris and PCSO Howard Pack arrived, one of the girls stopped breathing.
PCSO Harris carried out first aid and successfully managed to resuscitate the girl and stayed with her until the ambulance arrived.
Sgt Claire Storry, of Wantage neighbourhood policing team, said: "Due to the prompt action of the PCSOs, and luckily for the girls, both recovered with no lasting damage. Their irresponsible actions could have had fatal consequences and cost them their lives.
"We will continue to gather evidence during our patrols to ensure the right people and places are being targeted and will confiscate alcohol from the under 18s.
"I would like to remind people that anyone who supplies alcohol to under 18s will also be prosecuted.
"We will continue to send patrols of officers and PCSOs to known hotspots for youngsters gathering in locations across the Wantage area in an attempt to tackle underage drinking."
