A man has appeared in court over an incident in which a gun was pointed at a police officer.
Jeremy Beckford, 19, of Lambeth in London, appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court today charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, driving a motor vehicle other than in accordance of a driving licence and driving a motor vehicle with no insurance.
Beckford was remanded in custody. He will appear at Oxford Crown Court on Monday.
The charges relate to an incident on December 14 in Didcot where a black Volkswagen Golf was seen being driven erratically before the driver abandoned the car in Kynaston Road.
A gun was pointed at a police office, causing hundreds of school pupils to be locked inside their buildings.
