POLICE are launching a crackdown on motorists who park their vehicles illegally in Kennington.
The focus will be on Grundy Crescent, Kennington Road and the surrounding area.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Adrian Wright said: "We are cracking down on motorists who continue to park their vehicles on double yellow lines and in no-parking areas.
"Some motorists are causing unnecessary obstruction by blocking access to properties, obstructing driveways and entrances.
"We find vehicles parked on a curb which prevents the footpaths being used by pedestrians. This is a hazard to those with young children in prams or pushchairs as well as wheelchair users.
"If we catch a vehicle parked where it shouldn't be the driver will be issued with a £30 fixed penalty notice.
"Please be aware that vehicles parked on pedestrian crossings or the zig-zag lines can be issued with an £60 fine and will receive points on their driving licence.
"I would also like to remind the public that any abusive behaviour displayed to motorists, pedestrians or residents will not be tolerated and could lead to an £80 fixed penalty notice for disorder or even arrest."
