More than 20 students from Ruskin College demonstrated today about its proposal to move its HQ out of Oxford city centre.
They gathered at the entrance to the college's Old Headington campus, in Dunstan Road.
Ruskin, which is not part of Oxford University, plans to sell off the bulk of its buildings in Walton Street with the proceeds going towards a £16m redevelopment of the Old Headington site.
Protestor John Lacey said: "We want to protect the long standing tradition of the college that dates back to 1901 when it was established.
"Students feel very strongly that the college should remain in the city and we feel that relocating to Headington would be a bad move.
Ruskin College today launched a fundraising appeal to raise £6m to build a new library, which would be named after former Prime Minister, Lord Callaghan.
The Callaghan Library, which would be built on the college's Old Headington site, is expected to open in 2010.
