Don't forget to sign up for my weekly newsletter on trade and tourism.

It's a chance to catch up on some of the stories I have been writing during the week, talking to businesses about their successes and the challenges they are facing.

I really enjoyed catching up with the MacDonald family who run iScream gelateria in the city's historic Covered Market.

They also run Wicked Chocolate too, and in case you are worried that chocolate melts during hot weather they have got it covered and stock plenty of fudge too.

Oxford Mail:

Their working days have been 'relentless' as they make their ice cream and sorbet fresh on a daily basis.

Oxford Mail:

The Tap Social and Missing Bean have joined forces for an interesting new bakery enterprise in Kennington.

I know Missing Bean well from its cafe in Abingdon - the coffee is excellent - so I have high hopes for this new venture.

Staff at the Lamb & Flag pub in St Giles tell me reopening is just weeks away, and much to the relief of sausage roll fans Greggs in Cornmarket has finally reopened.

Here's what to expect from this week's newsletter

It felt for a while like the heatwave would never end, so it was a good time to talk to the lovely team at iScream gelateria in the Covered Market about their sales. Not surprisingly, business has been 'relentless' over the past few weeks, and the good news is that tourists have returned in large numbers from across the globe.

Staff are also seeing language school students queuing up - something we haven't seen so much over the past couple of years.

Greggs in Cornmarket finally reopened after a short break, only to find Thames Water digging up the road outside.

Westgate has taken the big stores but Cornmarket still has a lot to offer and there's always something going on in my favourite shopping street.

The community group running the Lamb & Flag in St Giles - yes they really are called The Inklings - are just weeks away from reopening one of Oxford's most historic pubs. I can't wait for this as I'm sure it will mark the start of a very successful revival.
