Researchers at Oxford University will spend a £1.9m grant to find out why humans believe in God.

The research will look at the study of the mind and intelligence including evolutionary biology, neuroscience, linguistics and computer sciences.

The grant has been made by the John Templeton Foundation to the Oxford Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion and the Centre for Anthropology and Mind. Money will also provide training for scholars and a number of seminars and workshops.
