POLICE are urging children with mobile phones to download a new safety app so parents can track them.
The “Hollie Guard App” is designed for youngsters to be able to switch on when they are walking home late or alone and then parents are able to track them.
If they feel unsafe at any point, they can shake their phones and the app sets off a high-pitched alarm and also sends messages to the parent or guardian registered with the user.

Police across the UK have been posting notices to residents about the app encouraging them to download it.
Jane Hamill, a PCSO for Doncaster East, added on the notice: “This is for anyone to use. Please do not think it is for only kids.”
