A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been detained under the Mental Health Act.
The 42-year-old man was arrested after two health workers were stabbed inside a house in Celadine Place, Greater Leys, Oxford, at 12.20pm yesterday.
He has been assessed by a team of medics and has been referred to a secure hospital for further assessment.
Both of the health workers were on a community visit when the attack took place.
One of the health workers called the police as they ran towards the nearby Leys Health Centre in Dunnock Way.
Both men remain in a serious but stable condition in the John Radcliffe Hopsital.
Neighbourhood Inspector Phil Standish said: "I would like to reassure the community of Greater Leys that this was an isolated incident which took place inside a house and that no other people were in danger.
"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
"A crime scene was set up yesterday at the address in Celandine Place and at Leys Health Centre to preserve any evidence that could assist police inquiries. Officers remain at the health centre today."
