A 29-YEAR-OLD man, one of two mental health workers injured in a stabbing in Oxford yesterday, has been discharged from hospital.

His 44-year-old colleague remains at the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Headington, in a serious but stable condition.

The two men were stabbed at a flat in Celandine Place, Greater Leys, during a community visit.

Police have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been detained at a secure hospital under the Mental Health Act.

Police were today carrying out patrols to reassure people following the double stabbing.

Officers were called by an employee of Leys Health Centre at lunchtime yesterday reporting that two members of staff from Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, who were on a community visit, had been stabbed inside a house in Celandine Place.

Neighbourhood Inspector Phil Standish, said: "I would like to reassure the community of Greater Leys that this was an isolated incident which took place inside a house and that no other people were in danger. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

"A crime scene was set up yesterday at the address in Celandine Place and at Leys Health Centre to preserve any evidence that could assist police inquiries. Officers remain at the health centre today.

"Members of the neighbourhood team will today be posting leaflets through residents' doors explaining what happened yesterday and providing contact details of the team.

"I would encourage anyone who has any questions or concerns about the incident to contact a member of the neighbourhood team via 0845 8 505 505 or email leysneighbourhood@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk."
