While feeling very sorry for the parents of student Tsz Fok in losing their talented son in a road accident, I must also sympathise with the driver of the truck involved (Oxford Mail, February 8).
Tsz Fok would still be with us if he had used common sense, which seems to be lacking in most cyclists, mostly students, who have not the slightest idea how dangerous it can be to ignore basic road use rules.
The girl cycling with him had the presence of mind to hang back behind the truck which, no doubt, was waiting to turn with its indicator flashing.
Every time I go to the city, I see cyclists doing stupid things, with no thought for their safety, but it is always the driver who is to blame when an accident occurs, because cyclists fail to observe rules of the road.
