Free doughnuts, a burlesque workshop and cocktail masterclass are just some of the fun events happening across Oxford this week.
If you are on the hunt for something to do, there are a wide range of activities to fill your day with.
Free doughnuts
Doughnut Time, a sweet-treat chain, is opening a new store in the Westgate Centre between Rituals and the Library, and opposite Urban Outfitters.
The store will open on Saturday (August 6) and to celebrate the new spot will give out free doughnuts from 12pm to 3pm.

Burlesque workshop
Lead by Lola La Pearl, of the well esteemed Folly Mixtures Burlesque troop, this workshop at the New Theatre Oxford will teach you the basics of burlesque dancing, including bumps, shimmies and thrusts.
You could even hang out at the theatre beforehand and enjoy a glass of prosecco.

Cocktail masterclass
At this privately hosted event by the front of house team at the New Theatre Oxford you will be taught how to make one of the theatre’s signature cocktails.
Following this, you will then get creative and make your very own themed cocktail.

Summer Family Day
The Science Oxford Centre his hosting a unique family experience this summer which will see children and adults alike explore, discover and play in the Exploration Zone, where they can ave fun experimenting with interactive exhibits.

King Lear
This production of William Shakespeare’s King Lear will take to the stage at the Oxford Castle and Prison this August.
Synopsis: “Power and madness walk hand in hand through our retelling of this most tragic of tales.
“As King Lear begins to show signs of succumbing to the weight of his long-held responsibilities he seeks to relinquish the burden onto his daughters, so he can, “unburdened, crawl towards death”.
“What he doesn’t countenance, however, is that his own vanity will cause him to disgrace his most cherished possession and pass control of his kingdom, and his own fate, into the hands of individuals with far more selfish desires and ambitions in mind.
“So let us invite you to come and bear witness to the downfall of a King, the destruction of a Dynasty, and ultimately a sequence of events that will have a Nation on the brink of collapse.”

Aladdin holiday course
A three day holiday course for younger students full of songs, dances and characters from your favourite stories, plus lively games and crafts.
Created by Flintlock Theatre this summer course will take place at Oxford High Preparatory School and is a must for any theatre-loving child.

Wilderness Festival
Wilderness Festival is a four-day boutique festival spanning music, the arts, food and wellbeing. It is set amidst the idyllic surroundings of Cornbury Park and will take place this week.
