Longcot pub The King & Queen has been nominated for a European sustainability award in the Best Gastronomy category.
The GrINN Awards 2022, organised by Quartz Inn Hotels, promote good practice in the hospitality sector and aim to increase general awareness of the impact of hospitality and tourism activities on the environment.
The King & Queen is a traditional country inn serving a variety of pub favourites, timeless classics and tasty tapas made by Spanish head chef Francisco Rodriguez Mora.
Most ingredients are sourced from local suppliers where possible, to offer the most sustainable and quality insured food while supporting local businesses.
Mr Mora said: “We are very happy and proud of this GrINN Awards nomination and the recognition for all our team. In Spain, where I come from, these awards are highly appreciated in the hospitality industry”.
Mr Mora, who has been in charge of the pub's kitchen for two years, specialises in marrying Spanish and British gastronomies on one plate.
Popular dishes include tapa of minted lamb skewer served with homemade Romesco sauce and roast salmon fillet served with patatas bravas, chickpeas and fine beans.
Hotels, pubs and other establishments and tourism leaders from 23 European countries have been nominated and the finalists will be announced in the coming weeks after the jury deliberation.
The winners from each of the 50 categories will be chosen among all finalists after a public voting process.
