POLICE warned today they planned to crack down on motorists parking illegally in Wantage.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Sue Harris said: "We will be out in force over the next few weeks issuing fixed penalty tickets to motorists who park their vehicles on double and single yellow lines; in no-parking areas near the schools and in bus stops.
"Some motorists are even parking in disabled spaces when they do not have a disability, which is very selfish and inconsiderate. Vehicles seen parking in a disabled bay not displaying a valid "disabled badge" will be given an immediate £30 fixed penalty notice.
"There are also people who park their cars over dropped kerbs which is a hazard to those on disability vehicles or with young children in prams or pushchairs.
"If we catch a vehicle parked where it shouldn't be the driver will be issued with a £30 fixed penalty notice.
"Please be aware that vehicles parked on pedestrian crossings or the zig-zag lines can be issued with a £60 fine and will receive points on their driving licence.
"I would like to remind motorists that we will not tolerate this type of behaviour."
