It certainly pays to make a fuss.
The fancy dress demo by supporters of the Donnington Doorstep Family Centre in Oxford watched by city councillors swung the day in their favour.
They arrived at the Town Hall with no grant, and came away with £60,000.
Not a bad night's work for anyone.
Organisations like Donnington Doorstep do excellent work in the community.
But their job is made more difficult when there is constant uncertainty over funding.
