Vale of White Under 15s snatched victory from the jaws of defeat as they overcame Newbury 3-2 after extra time in the Hobbs Cup quarter-final at Kintbury FC.
Trailing 2-1 with five seconds of normal time left, Richard Taylor crossed for Oliver Taylor to hit a screamer, which went in off the angle of post and crossbar for the equaliser.
Vale were the better side in extra time, and Oliver Taylor was again on target with the winner after Nick Christodoulou drew the keeper and passed to him.
Newbury had been much quicker to the ball in the first half, opening the scoring with a header after 12 minutes.
Matt Clarke's free-kick was headed home by Christodoulou five minutes later, but poor defending allowed Newbury to regain the lead by the interval.
Some harsh words at half-time produced a much better second-half display by Vale, but it was only at the death that they snatched an equaliser.
Now they can look forward to a home semi-final against Cheltenham or East Berks.
CONTROVERSY surrounded Vale of White Horse Under 11s' 2-1 defeat by Gloucester in the County League at Longlevens Primary School.
The two sides were locked together at 1-1 in the first half of Saturday's game when Vale's Max Gannicott headed an effort away following a Gloucester corner.
However, to everyone's amazement the referee awarded a goal.
Gloucester had opened the brighter, and were rewarded in the seventh minute when Connor Spackman side-footed home.
Vale replied straight from the kick-off, Alex Thomas beating two players before burying a piledriver from 20 yards.
Matthew Taylor and Thomas hit the Gloucester woodwork, before the home side's disputed winner.
Vale bounced back to beat Jersey 4-1 in a friendly at Oxford Brookes Westminster Institute of Education on Monday.
Ashley Bayliss vollyed home Scott Grove's cross to give Vale a 14th-minute lead.
Owen Shaw ran on to Jack Alexander's raking through ball to chip the keeper for Vale's second 12 minutes after the break.
Three minutes later, Jack Brown scored from close range after Jared Jones's shot struck a post.
Jamie Hamilton pulled a goal back for Jersey, before Thomas crossed for Sam Barder to seal Vale's victory.
