A GROUP of enterprising teenagers have set up their own business, giving students the inside track on what to visit in Oxford.

A Student's Guide to Oxford is the brainchild of the Nouveau Company, which has been set up by 16- and 17-year-olds at Oxford High School as part of the Young Enterprise scheme.

It is packed with useful information for visitors to the city including restaurants, bars, hotels, theatres and nightclubs.

And there are dozens of recommendations from the Nouveau team offering a youthful insight into where is best to eat, sleep and shop.

The Young Enterprise scheme involves groups of teenagers from schools across Oxfordshire setting up and running their own companies during the course of an academic year.

Joint managing director Lucy Li said: "We noticed there was a gap in the market, so we visited every place for research, took pictures and made arrangements with advertisers.

advertisement "We also researched 20 different printers to negotiate the best deal."

The 52-page booklet is designed for foreign students visiting language schools in the city and it is hoped many will include them in their welcome packs to help them make the most of their stay.

It will cost about £1 a copy, with individual schools able to include their own logo and branding.

The Nouveau Company has teamed up with Eynsham-based Information Press and has arranged for 10,000 copies of the guide to be printed for about £2,800.

The entrepreneurial team hopes to recoup the cost through sales, advertising and selling shares in the company to friends and family.

Lucy, 16, added: "We are taking advantage of what our city has to offer."

And she said they had learned a lot about how business works.

"We have been dealing with people who are running companies, juggling deadlines and learning to work together as a team. It has been a great experience."
