The vicious attackers behind the brutal assault of RAF man Peter Forrest need to be caught and brought to justice for this sickening, unprovoked assault.
That an innocent man should be targeted in this way while enjoying a quiet ride home after a night out is a disgrace.
Mr Forrest - who as a serviceman is among the brave prepared to risk his life for this country - is lucky to be alive and not have suffered more serious injuries or brain damage.
What makes it even more sickening is that the attack comes just days after the sentencing of the three teenagers who killed Garry Newlove by kicking him to death outside his home in Cheshire.
Mr Forrest is to be applauded for his courage in speaking out against his attackers and we hope it will help them be caught.
And when they are let's hope justice deals with them the way it should - with a heavy hand - before they go on to launch an attack with even more devastating consequences.
