An Oxford teenager has been chosen ahead of hundreds of other girls to attend the International Guide Camp this summer.
Danielle Ridge-Collins, 15, has become the first girl in the 40 year history of the 1st Barton Guides to be chosen to attend the special camp, held in Poland in July.
She is one of only nine Guides from the UK who will attend the event - joining thousands of Girl Guides from around the world.
Cheney School pupil Danielle, of Edgecombe Road, Barton, said: "I'm really excited. I'm looking forward to going abroad by myself for the first time and meeting new people, but I will miss my family."
Danielle found out about the international camp while working towards her Baden Powell Trefoil badge - the highest award in Guiding.
By completing the badge she became a Young Leader and was eligible to be selected for the camp.
She said: "I had to go on special day where there were hundreds of other Guides. It was there that girls were chosen to attend the camp."
Every girl going must raise £550 to fund the trip.
Danielle said: "I'm going to be holding a bingo night at St Mary's Church in June and I want to hold a disco, a raffle and a tombola as well."
Danielle's mum, Cathy, said she was very proud of her daughter.
Mrs Ridge-Collins, 31, said: "We as a family couldn't have provided her with this opportunity. So for her to do it on her own, is fantastic."
Guide leader, Janet Robinson, said: "She is a lovely young lady and it is fantastic she was chosen."
Anyone who would like to make a donation to Danielle's travel fund can do so by sending a cheque, made payable to 1st Barton Guides Travel Account, to 21 Edgecombe Road, Barton, Oxford.
