A cat from Kennington too prim to use a cat flap is crossing her manicured claws hoping to be named Britain's Poshest Cat on Sunday.

Lolita, a 10-year-old Norwegian Forest Cat, has strutted her way to the finals of a competition run by Disney.

Owner Chris Thomas 14, of Bagley Close, a pupil at St Gregory the Great Catholic School, in Cowley, Oxford, said: "We're thrilled she has won a place in the finals - she is one of the poshest cats around. She refuses to use the cat flap and insists someone opens the door for her."

Lolita will only eat fresh fish or tinned cat food from Marks & Spencer, makes her dog companion Penelope lick her clean, and is groomed at a specialist studio once a month.

Judges picked Lolita from about 350 real-life aristocats for the final shortlist of three contenders competing to be named as the nation's bona fide glamour puss.

She has starred in a glossy photoshoot and appeared in a national newspaper.

The judges based their decisions on entrants' "appearance, attitude, refined palate and luxurious lifestyle". Head judge Dan Thomas, of London's Pet Pavillion shop, said: "We chose Lolita as one of our final three because she is the epitome of posh."
