A BARN caught on fire yesterday (20) afternoon, including 20 large bales and a store of wood, is believed to be arson.

Crews from Chipping Norton Fire Station, Hook Norton Fire Station and Burford Fire Station were called to the fire in on Wards Road, Chipping Norton at 4.30pm.

They found the contents of the barn to be “well alight” and used both hose reels and main jets to suppress the fire.

Thames Valley Police suspect the barn was “set on fire” and are now appealing for witnesses.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “Luckily the fire service arrived on scene quickly and were able to put the fire out.

“Thames valley police are appealing for anyone to come forward if they have seen anything suspicious or have any information to assist with the investigation, refence number INC-20220720-1569.”
