PLANS to improve Oxford Train Station, an application for a church to sell alcohol and the latest road closures are just some of the public notices issued by local authorities in Oxfordshire.

Public notices include planned roadworks, licensing applications and planning notices, and are issued by councils on a daily basis.

Oxford Train Station: Proposals to improve and upgrade the Oxford railway station have been submitted.

The order will authorise Network Rail to compulsorily acquire land and rights, and to use land to facilitate the improvement and upgrade works to create a new western entrance to Oxford Station, additional railway track and platforms, new rail bridges, highway improvements and associated works.

Church licensing application: The iconic University Church of St Mary the Virgin in Oxford's High Street has applied to sell alcohol on its premises.

The proposed licensable activities are: sale of alcohol by retail both on and off premises from Monday to Saturday (11am to 10.30pm) and from midday to 10.30pm on Sundays.

Road and footway repairs: Rectory Lane in Woodstock is set to close for just under a fortnight, to allow electrical connection works.

From August 1, the temporary traffic order will see through traffic prohibited.

The order is being introduced because of electrical connection, and road and footway repairs, which are anticipated to be completed by August 12.

The effect of the order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle in Rectory Lane.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic is via Park Street, High Street, Park Street, and vice versa.

Gas main replacement works: Church Road in Church Hanborough is set to be closed for more than a month.

From July 25, gas main replacement works mean the road will be closed to vehicles.

The order is being introduced because of gas main replacement works which are anticipated to be completed by August 31.

The effect of the order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle in Church Road.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic is via Lower Road, A4095, Main Road, Church Road and vice versa.

Refurbishment of former antiques store: A vacant Grade II listed building is set for alterations and a refurbishment.

Kings Antiques in Kings End, Bicester will see a variety of changes, all while ensuring the Grade II listed building's heritage is preserved, an application states.

Alterations will see the outside repainted to follow business branding, while three outbuildings and a well to the rear will be demolished.

There will be minor internal alterations to improve the layout and make good use of the office space.

The existing 'tired' toilets will be refitted and tiled, while office staff will be provided with kitchen facilities, and store rooms will be replaced.

A partition wall to the first floor will be removed, with the existing street-facing entrance door and gates will be replaced.

The driveway is set to be resurfaced.
