A MYSTERY into why three police cars were surrounding a van which looked like it had been set on fire near a popular swimming spot in Oxfordshire has been solved.
Three police cars were in the car park next to a cordon taping off the riverside verge at Cheese Wharf in Buscot near Faringdon, which is just off the A417 near the Trout Inn, on Saturday (02).
A white van was behind the cordon which had been destroyed by a fire. The front window and driver side door appeared to have been shattered.

However, police were there for a different incident relating to “fear for welfare of man” who is now safe and well.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “The burnt-out van was unrelated and was already present – hence the fire tape around it. No-one was injured as a result of the fire in the van.”
