A MUSICIAN who beat cancer is to perform at the Bullingdon Club in Oxford at the end of the month.
In 2012, American rock star John O'Brien was diagnosed with cancer and given five per cent chance of living but dreamed of touring the UK in spite of his condition.
Following years of physical therapy, recovery and lockdown delays, he will bring his show to the live venue in Cowley Road on July 21.
He said: “The UK has such a rich musical history that has thoroughly influenced my work and I cannot wait to come over and share in that wonderful history.”

His most recent single, a “timely hit infused with the spirit of classic rock’s best”, entitled The Spider’s Love Web, reached more than 80k Spotify streams in its first weeks and continues to be a hit on all streaming platforms.
His music combines contemporary rock with an environmental message.
Mr O’Brien said: “My mother was a very strong conservationist and avid oil painter. As a child I was surrounded by scenes of nature and animals as they live in the wild.
"Since then, I have spent my life fighting to uphold the conservationist ideals she embedded in me so that all manners of beings on this planet can continue to enjoy it for generations to come.”
