COVID cases in Oxford have gone up in the last week.

The total went up to 333 from 274, an increase of 21.5 per cent, putting the infection rate at 219.7 per 100,000 of the population.

The highest number of cases was reported in Oxford Central, where 55 people tested positive compared to 32 last week.

Cases for other areas are as follows: East Central Oxford, 20; North Central Oxford, 19; Summertown, 17; Marston, 18; Headington, 23; Osney, Jericho & Port Meadow, 16; Grandpont & New Hinksey, 11; Cowley South & Iffley, 26; Cowley North, 26.

According to NHS England data, as of Tuesday (June 21) Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust (OUH) was caring for 52 coronavirus patients across its three hospitals.

The number of people being treated in hospital for covid by 8am on that day was up from 45 on the same day the previous week, while the number of beds at OUH occupied by people who tested positive increased by 68 per cent in the last four weeks.

The figures also show that 64 new covid patients were admitted to OUH in the week to June 19. This was up from 48 in the previous seven days.

Across England there were 6,002 people in hospital with covid as of June 21, with 149 of them in mechanical ventilation beds including one at OUH.
