Armed police arrested two teenagers after reports of a ‘man with a gun’ in the city centre.
The 17-year-old boy and 18-year-old man, both from Oxford, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in a public place. Both have been released under investigation.
Thames Valley Police confirmed this evening that officers were called at 9.52pm on Friday, June 17, to reports of a ‘man with a firearm’ in George Street and the surrounding streets.
A spokeswoman said: “Firearms officers attended the scene and recovered an imitation firearm.
“If anyone was in the area, and has any information, please call 101 and quote reference 43220266191.”
