An Oxford pub worker was left with a broken arm after being attacked with a baseball bat.
The member of staff at the Blue Mile, in Cowley Road, Littlemore, was assaulted after his colleagues refused to serve a man earlier in the day, because of his drunken behaviour.
But the man returned as the pub was closing at about 10.50pm, claiming he had left his mobile phone behind.
The bar worker showed him to the door, but as they stepped outside, a second man was waiting and hit the 40-year-old with a baseball bat.
Dc Robert France, of Oxford CID, said: "The victim's arm was broken in the attack.
"It is believed the man who was ejected from the pub tried to start a fight in the afternoon with a customer.
"I appeal to this person to come forward with any information they may have about this man."
The man who was thrown out of the pub was white, aged between 25 and 30, about 5ft and of medium build.
He was wearing a green jacket, jeans and trainers and had a beard.
The man with the baseball bat was white and wearing a white woolly hat.
Anyone with information should call Dc France on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
